Man pulled from flaming car near Desert Hot Springs High
Update: A driver involved in a single-car crash near Desert Hot Springs High School has been sent to the hospital with major injuries. His car collided with a cement block art sculpture near the intersection of Pierson Blvd. and Golden Eagle Way at 8:42 a.m this morning. His car then overturned and caught fire.

The driver was trapped but was rescued by a Desert Hot Springs police sergeant according to Deputy Chief Jim Henson of Desert Hot Spring police.
Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters were able to put out the fire after the man was safely pulled from the vehicle. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. It is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. Henson confirmed that speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Pierson Boulevards’ eastbound lanes have reopened. The westbound lanes are still closed while the scene is cleared.

Desert Hot Springs police and Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters are on the scene of a car accident near the intersection of Pierson Blvd. and Golden Eagle Way near Desert Hot Springs high school. The initial reports about the accident detailed a driver trapped in a flaming car. The fire has since been extinguished.
There is no word on the condition of the driver at this moment.
Pierson Blvd. is currently closed between Golden Eagle way and Carob Tree Drive.
