Arrest made in stabbing attack near Coachella Valley Rescue Mission

Transient arrested in connection a the stabbing attack that happened outside the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Monday afternoon.

Raul Guillen, 51, a transient of Indio, was arrested Wednesday by Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies in the area of Dr. Carreon and Van Buren Street in Indio.

Guillen is accused of an assault with a deadly weapon Monday at around 12:30 pm outside the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission on the 84-400 block of Manila Street. The victim went inside the center to seek help, according to Tom Cox, the program director at the center.

The victim suffered a non-life threatening stab wound and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Guillen was transported and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio for assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail and is expected to appear in court at 8 a.m. Friday, according to online inmate records.
