Woman dies after Palm Springs crash

A female driver died early Friday morning after a single-vehicle crash in Palm Springs.

The crash happened at the San Jacinto Village Apartments on Escoba Drive shortly before 5 Thursday night.

According to officers at the scene, the middle age woman was driving eastbound on East Palm Canyon when for reasons unknown she crossed into traffic, left the roadway, onto an embankment, and collided into a concrete wall of a dumpster area located in the southeast corner of the complex.

She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where she died overnight.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police believed that the female had a medical emergency before to the collision.

The woman’s name will be released by the Riverside County Coroner’s office after her family is notified.
