Morongo Valley outage leaves over 7,000 without power

A power outage affecting over seven thousand Southern California Edison (SCE) customers has been reported in the Yucca Valley area according to the SCE website. The SCE outage map shows three different outage sites with 7,035 total customers affected at the time of this publication.

One of the outage sites was south of Big Morongo Canyon Road in Morongo Valley. 2 poles were downed and one caught fire according to the California Highway Patrol. Southern California Edison crews are on the scene making repairs. It was not confirmed if wind played a factor in the downing.

One lane of Highway 62 southbound is closed for repairs.
