Victim identified in deadly Desert Center crash

Authorities today released the name of a Thousand Palms man who died in an apparent single-vehicle rollover crash on westbound Interstate 10 in Desert Center.

Gildardo Felix, 53, died at the scene of the 6 p.m. Monday crash that occurred about one mile west of Rice Road, according to the county coroner’s office.

Emergency personnel found a vehicle overturned in the median area at mile marker 104, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said. No lanes were blocked by the accident, the dispatcher said.

The cause of the crash was being investigated by the California Highway Patrol’s Indio station.’
