Riverside DA: ‘No delays’ in mother murder extradition.
Update: KESQ/CBS Local 2 has received a response from the Riverside County District Attorney’s office regarding Lommen case extradition process.
“There have been no delays. Part of the process involves getting judicial signatures,” read the statement. “Assuming judicial availability, everything should be ready to send to the governor’s office by the end of the week.”

“Our office has not yet received the application for requisition from the prosecutor (the Riverside County DA’s Office),” read the statement from Press Secretary Evan Westrup. “After we receive and review the application, it would then be sent to the California Attorney General’s office for further review.”
Lommen will remain in the Pennington County Jail in Rapid City, South Dakota until the extradition paperwork is completed.
“Assuming it’s approved, the requisition document would then be attested by the California Secretary of State’s office and sent to South Dakota to be processed,” continued the statement. “South Dakota could then prepare a governor’s warrant, which would require this individual to return to California to face charges.”

The man accused of murdering his mother then stowing her in the trunk of his car appeared in court in Rapid City, South Dakota today.
31-year-old Tosten Walsh Lommen was stopped following a 50-mile long high-speed chase on Jan. 1 by a South Dakota state trooper and arrested for eluding the police and drunken driving. During the subsequent search of his vehicle, the trooper found the body of 58-year-old Michelle Nanette Walsh, Lommen’s mother.
Law enforcement believes that Walsh died in California and an extradition is planned for Lommen. However, Governor Jerry Brown has not yet signed the extradition paperwork. Lommen will stay in Pennington County in South Dakota until the paperwork is completed.
Palm Springs Police told KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that there was sufficient evidence found inside the home on Icon Way to believe that that murder happened in Palm Springs.
The next hearing is set for April 12.
