16-year-old girl arrested for making threat to Hemet High School

A 16-year-old girl was arrested after being linked to a threat made toward Hemet High School’s principal that was set to be carried out today.

Deputies assigned as school resource officers at Hemet High School learned of a potential threat Tuesday that was written on a stall in a campus restroom, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Duckett. The threat was directed toward the school’s principal Emily Shaw and was set to be carried out Wednesday, Duckett said.

The investigation revealed a 16-year-old female student authored the threat and a search warrant was served at her residence, Duckett said.

The suspect was ultimately booked into the Riverside County Juvenile Detention Center for making the threat, he said.

“The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department takes all threats serious,” Duckett said.

Anyone with information about the threat, or similar incidents, was encouraged to call investigators Medina or Roy at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station at (951) 791-3400.
