This past Thursday, Rey filed eight handwritten motions, including one to dismiss charges and a mental evaluation. Other motions included a request to change the venue, a one-on-one meeting with the judge, and apologizing for outbursts during hearings.

Rey has been charged with two counts of child endangerment and two counts of contributing to child misconduct.

He has also been charged with the murder of Sean Ty Ferel, a palm springs man that was missing since he went on vacation with Rey in May 2016. After Ferel disappeared, Rey allegedly stole his car, credit cards, and other property. Police found Ferel’s car in August 2016, along with Ferel’s blood inside the trunk, his driver’s license, credit cards and phone. Ferel’s body has not been located.

We reached out to Jessica’s sister, Sara Monteiro, for a comment on Rey filing the new motions.

“I do hold him 100 percent responsible in my sisters death and hope he is charged with her murder. I feel he is hiding the truth about what really lead to my sister’s death and attempted to hide it by dismembering her then trying to get rid of the body. He needs to be held responsible for her death on all accounts, along with his attempt to flee while hiding her remains.” – Sara Monteiro, Jessica Rey’s sister

The Riverside County District Attorney’s office officials have previously said that Rey needs to have his case in Kansas resolved before he can be brought back to California.
