Robbery, crash suspects caught after daylong search in Indian Wells

Two men are in custody tonight after Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies find the second suspect hiding at a home in Indian Wells.

The events began around 1:15 p.m. when the Sheriff’s Department got a call of a robbery on the 74-900 block of Velie Way in Palm Desert.

A few minutes later the suspects were spotted in the area of Highway 111 and Cook Street. Police gave chase until the suspect vehicle collided with another car near that intersection.

The driver says she swerved out of the way, and the suspects’ car swerved in the same direction causing the collision.

The woman and her passenger did not sustain any injuries in the collision.

The driver said she witnessed the two suspects jump out of the car and climb a nearby wall into a nearby housing development.

The two males matching the suspect description were reported to be in the area of Cook St. and Desert Horizons Dr. Law enforcement responded to the scene.

One suspect was detained in the area of the housing development very quickly.

The second suspect was found around shortly after 6:00 p.m. hiding in a home in the area
