Adult film actor dies in Rancho Mirage crash

Authorities today released the name of a Rancho Mirage crash victim who was trapped for a time inside his vehicle and died of his injuries the following day.

The crash occurred at 8:24 p.m. last Thursday on Highway 111, west of Atrium Way, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Tijerina. William Herrington, 48, of Palm Springs, was found trapped inside his car, while the other driver had minor injuries, Tijerina said.

KESQ & News Channel 2 received a tip that the William Herrington went by the name “Billy Herrington” in his career as an adult film actor. Filmmaker Chi Chi La Rue confirmed the news of Herrington’s death through his Twitter page a day after the crash.

Herrington was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he died just before 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information was urged to contact Officer Nicholas Bazanos at (760) 836-1600 or call (760) 341-7867 to report anonymously.
