Oscar watch parties benefit local charities

The stars weren’t the only ones to walk the red carpet tonight. Locals got dressed up and walked their own red carpets at watch parties in Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs Sunday night.

“It’s all set up, it’s decorated, the red carpet, the good food,” Stan Sylvain, a watch party attendee.

Hollywood’s glitz and glam made it’s way to the Valley.

“I think the whole town is bringing Hollywood to Palm Springs,” said Tony Marchese, owner of Trio in Palm Springs.

“We have set up a gorgeous room with five big TVs and just a delicious menu,” said Jerry Keller, owner of Acqua and Lulu California Bistro.

Money raised at Acqua in Rancho Mirage is benefiting Palm Springs Women in Film and Television.

“Basically 25 percent of the price of the dinner will go to them [PSWIFT],” Keller said.

The red carpet was rolled out at Lulu in Palm Springs and down the way at Trio folks raised money for a local non-profit.

“AAP Food Samaritans supplies nutritional support for men, women and children with HIV and aids and other life threatening illnesses,” said Mark Anton, Executive Director of AAP Food Samaritans.
