Embezzlement charges filed against former Valley PTA treasurer
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a former Herbert Hoover Elementary School PTA treasurer accused of stealing over $22,000 from the PTA.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s office officially filed grand theft charges against Danny Cervantes, 34, on Feb. 28, 2018.
According to Mary Perry, public information officer for DSUSD, it was discovered that funds were missing from the Herbert Hoover Elementary School Parent Teacher Club last summer.
“We commend the Parent Teacher Club for diligently working to raise money to replace the loss and to pay off unpaid bills caused by the situation,” Perry said in a statement to CBS Local 2/KESQ. “Their success reflects their commitment to the students and the school.”
The felony complaint filed in Riverside Superior Court alleges Cervantes embezzled $22,473 from the PTA from October 2016 to September 2017. An arrest warrant was issued on March 6, and he is not in custody at this time.
