Indio man pleads guilty to child abuse charges
An Indio man who initially pled not guilty on five counts of committing three or more lewd acts with a child under the age of 14, willful child cruelty, and inflicting an injury on a child under 10 in October of 2015 has reached a plea deal.
Pastor Galvez Majano pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse, while the other charges were dropped according to John Hall of the Riverside County District Attorney’s office. The deal was reached before jury selection was completed.
Sentencing is set for May 4.
Majano was facing charges relating to alleged crimes that occurred from June to early November 2013 when Majano was living with his girlfriend and her two children in an Indio studio apartment.
Majano was 39 when the abuse occurred. The victims, a boy and a girl, were 8 and 2 respectively.

This afternoon, the molestation charges were dropped against Majano before jury selection could finish. He’s pleaded guilty to two counts of abusing the kids, but all the sex charges were dropped. Sentencing is May 4.
Working on a story now. Still waiting for comment from John Hall and Majano’s attorney, Benjamin Schiff with the public defender’s office. His number at the PD’s office is (760) 863-8231 if you want to try him.
