Police searching for man at-risk due to mental illness

Riverside County Sheriffs Deputies were seeking the public’s help in finding William Ballantine Dorsey, 75, who left his home Saturday and has not been seen since.

Dorsey’s wife told deputies late Monday morning he left their home on Saturday, March 10, at 10:00 a.m. and she did not know where he went.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of the 18000 Block of Langlois Road, just south of Desert Hot Springs regarding a missing person. They have been canvassing the general area, but with no results.

William Dorsey suffers from a mental illness and is considered at risk because of his diminished capacity.

He has reportedly left his home in the past and has returned home after a few days.

William Dorsey is described as white, 5′-11″, 140 pounds and last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt with blue stripes, blue jeans, and brown shoes.

His description was provided to all surrounding law enforcement agencies, including hospitals.

The investigation was ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident was encouraged to contact the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station at 760-836-1600.
