Man sentenced to life in prison +6 years for kidnapping, murder of Palm Desert man

A man convicted in November in the kidnap-murder of a Palm Desert resident was sentenced today. 29-year-old Andrew John Muir was sentenced to life in prison + 6 years for the killing of 38-year-old Jason Cupit.

The victim was stabbed in the back at an Indio home and then handcuffed inside his own vehicle, which was then set on fire off Vista Del Norte in Coachella on Aug. 14, 2015.

Muir was arrested on September 9, 2015 while authorities were in the process of serving four warrants in Indio and Coachella. Muir was arrested at a residence on the 46200 block of Calhoun St. in Indio.
