Transgender achievements the theme of this year’s ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’

The 4th annual Transgender Day of Visibility was held Tuesday night at the LGBT Community Center of the Desert Palm Springs.

The event was hosted by the Trans Community Project, a local organization that encourages community engagement, education, advocacy, and peer support on Trans issues.

The theme this year was #TransThriving, which acknowledges the number of major transgender achievements in the past year. The organization says they strive to transform how people feel about gender around the world especially with President Trump’s transgender military ban.

“It’s very important for us to be out there and showing that we may be trans but we still want to be part of the American dream and the American way of fighting for our country,” Paulina Angel, executive director of TCP.

The organization also welcomed the community to learn about their “TransTuesdays” program that is offered to the trans and gender non-conforming community here in the valley.
