Funeral for valley philanthropist, businessman Jim Houston set for 2 p.m. today

The funeral for Jim Houston is set to begin today at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert. We will have a news crew present and provide updates throughout the day.

Last week, the Coachella Valley lost one of its most charitable, former CBS Local 2 Owner and philanthropist Jim Houston. He passed away after battling pancreatic cancer on the night of March 23 at the age of 84, but he will not soon be forgotten.
Houston’s funeral will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert (43775 Deep Canyon Rd), according to a letter penned to Palm Springs International Film Festival Board Members and Staff the by Harold Matzner, the chairman of PSIFF.
“Jim had an outstanding business mind and was extremely successful in the business world,” Matzner writes. “He was truly the most quietly generous and caring man than I have ever met. I will miss him forever.”
The funeral will be open to the public and the media.
