Members protest Indio Senior Center administration
Some members of the Indio Senior Center are protesting the center’s management. Protesters are asking for the people in charge to be removed immediately.
Seniors were chanting “Yes, We Can!” Thursday morning in front of the center on Alladin Street. It’s the 2nd protest against management in the past six months.
Members reached out to KESQ & CBS Local 2 claiming that the two people in charge have harassed, yelled, and discriminated against certain members. They also said they are looking to take legal action.
“You guys are saying that they’re prejudiced against Mexicans, but you know what? The president of this board, which is me, is Mexican. And this is ridiculous because as a board, when we try to get grants, how are we going to get them with this ridiculousness,” said Sylvia Tenorio, chairperson for Friends of the Indio Senior Center.
We reached out to the administrators at the center of the protest, but they were not available for comment.
