Man in critical condition after gang-related shooting in Cathedral City
An 18-year-old man was left in critical condition in what investigators believe was a gang-related shooting in Cathedral City Friday night.
Officers with the Cathedral City Police Department said the shooting took place just before 11 p.m. near the intersection of San Diego and San Gabriel streets. Streets in the Dream Homes neighborhood were closed for the investigation for a time afterward.
The victim, who was shot in the back, is a known gang member and was uncooperative when questioned by police, authorities said. Officials said the shooting appears to be gang related.
Police said they found a loaded handgun during a search of the victim’s vehicle.
There was no word on a suspect description.
Officers at the Cathedral City Police Department asked anyone with information about the shooting to call them at 769-770-0300.
