Landau Elementary locked down as precaution, ‘no threat’ according to PSUSD
Landau Elementary School in Cathedral City was locked down earlier today as a precaution after a student reported seeing an individual near the campus who appeared to be carrying a weapon. Cathedral City Police investigated the situation and established that there was no threat and that the man was unarmed.
“Landau parents, we just called to inform you that this morning a student reported what she believed was a man carrying a weapon near school grounds. The police were immediately called to the area and the school went into lock-down,” reads the message sent out to Landau parents. “The police detained the individual quickly and established that there was no threat and the man was not carrying a weapon. In the future, if there is any suspicious activity, please report it immediately as the safety of your children are our number one priority.”
Just last month, two Cathedral City schools were shut down as a precaution due to reports of shots fired in the general vicinity of the school campuses.
