Your guide to navigating the the roads during Coachella season
Goldenvoice’s trifecta of festival weekends is nearly upon the Coachella Valley, and the area is prepping for the deluge of music fans in the coming weeks. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will take place from April 13-15 and April 20-22, followed by the Stagecoach California’s Country Music Festival from April 27-29, and the roads are due for quite a bit of added traffic.
To adjust, the following roads will be closed from the Friday of each festival, through each Monday:
Avenue 49 between Hjorth Street and Monroe Street Avenue 50 between Madison Street and Jackson Street Hjorth Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 50 Madison Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52
Avenue 50 between Madison Street and Monroe Street will see periodic closures and delays on April 2nd through the end of the festivals. This stretch will be closed for the same dates as the routes mentioned above (Friday through Monday of festival weekends) and will return to its regular traffic patterns on May 4.
The following roadways are designated primary access routes for the festivals and will see delays throughout the festivals.
Jefferson Street, southbound, from I-10 to Avenue 52 Washington Street, southbound, from I-10 to Avenue 52 Monroe Street, southbound, from I-10 to Avenue 52 Highway 111 at Jefferson Street Highway 111 at Monroe Street I-10 exit eastbound at Jefferson Street I-10 exit eastbound at Monroe Street I-10 exit eastbound at Washington Street
For those looking for alternate routes around the Polo Grounds come festival time, Washington Street, Jackson Street, Calhoun Street, and Golf Center Parkway are recommended for northbound and southbound travel, and Highway 111, Fred Waring Drive, Miles Avenue, Dr. Carreon Boulevard and Avenue 54 are recommended for eastbound and westbound travel.
For those looking to dodge driving themselves back from the festivals, the designated Lyft/Uber/Taxi location is on the southwest corner of Avenue 49 and Monroe Street. For those catching a ride with friends or family, the designated pickup/dropoff point is on the northeast corner of Avenue 52 and Madison Street.
Some 40,000 guests will be flowing in and out of the concert venue from all over the valley for the festival; keeping this information on hand can save plenty of grief when the music starts.
