Power restored after blown transformer causes massive residential outages in Palm Springs
A large segment of the southwest section of Palm Springs lost power during the hottest time of the day due to a blown transformer, according to a Palm Springs Police Department news release.
“Numerous traffic signals along Ramon Road near Gene Autry Trail and other areas south of Ramon Road and East of Sunrise Way have also been affected,” reads the release. “Southern California Edison has been notified; there’s no estimated time for when power will be restored.”
Southern California Edison’s outage map listed four outage incidents in the Palm Springs area as of 2:00 p.m. but power was restored by 3:30 p.m. The combined total of residents impacted was over 3,000.
