Indian Canyon Drive reopened after high wind damage
Update: 3:03 p.m. – Indian Canyon Drive between Tramview Rd. and Garnett Avenue is now open.
According to the Southern California Edison outage page, there are two remaining incidents in the Coachella Valley. 353 customers are being affected by the outages and the estimated time of restoration is 4:00 p.m.

Update: 10:56 a.m. – According to the Southern California Edison outage map, 747 customers are being affected by the power outages across Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, and Cathedral City.
According to the Imperial Irrigation District’s outage map, there are no outages listed in the Coachella Valley.

Update 9:42 a.m. – According to the Southern California Edison outage map, 1,167 customers are still being affected by the power outages across Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, and Palm Desert.
According to the Imperial Irrigation District’s outage map, there is currently one outage listed in La Quinta. The number of customers affected is unlisted. The outage was reported at 3:10 a.m. at the PGA West, according to the report info.

Indian Canyon was closed to all traffic in Palm Springs Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. between Garnett Avenue and West Tramview Road due to high winds and blowing sand, according to the California Highway Patrol.
High winds flipped a truck over nearby earlier this morning at San Rafael Drive and Indian Canyon Drive.
High winds downed two power poles in North Palm Springs, one along Indian Canyon Drive at Dillon Road.
The other downed pole was at the Pilot Gas Station on Indian Canyon Drive, just south of Interstate 10.
High voltage power lines were involved, and 1,084 Edison customers were without service in the North Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs areas at the height of the outage.
The California Highway Patrol was closing a stretch of Indian Canyon Drive because of the downed lines between Dillon Road and Pierson Boulevard. Residents in the area would still be allowed into their homes, according to the CHP.
In Palm Desert, Southern California Edison said 768 customers were impacted by an outage that started at 6:30 a.m.
There was no word on a cause for the outage.
365 Edison customers in the Palm Desert area were still without service as of 8:00 a.m., and there was no estimate on when service will be restored.
Other power service outages were reported in Cathedral City where 108 customers were without service as of 8:30 a.m.
A total of 1,557 Edison customers were without service as of 8:45 a.m. around the Coachella Valley.
