Rep. Ruiz responds to situation in Syria

Saturday, Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz (D, CA-36) tweeted a statement on the situation in Syria.

This comes after the United States, in an effort with the United Kingdom and France, launched airstrikes at Syria Friday night, retaliating for a suspected gas attack on civilians by Syrian leader Bashar Al Assad.

In a statement, Rep. Ruiz tweeted:

“The use of chemical warfare is horrific, illegal, and should be held to account by the international community. I condemn the Assad regime’s inhumane chemical attack. Last night’s targeted strike on Syria’s chemical warfare infrastructure by the U.S., Britain, and France was meant to hinder their capacity to do it again. I am deeply concerned about carelessly getting involved in another war or repeatedly turning to military action as the only means of responding. The President’s authority for initiating military action is limited and long term action must be approved by Congress. I thank the brave men and women in uniform for doing their jobs reflective of the greatest military our world has ever seen.”
