Yvonne Parks resigning from Desert Hot Springs city council
Yvonne Parks will be resigning from her seat on the Desert Hot Springs city council.
Parks, who according to the city’s website has been serving in her current seat since December 2015, sent her resignation letter to the city Thursday, April 12.
In her letter, Parks wrote, “I will be moving and will no longer reside within the City limits. My resignation will be effective once a replacement is appointed for my position. I will maintain a residence in the City until that time. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as a Council Member for the City of Desert Hot Springs.”
KESQ and CBS Local 2 reached out to Parks for further comment, but have not heard back.
Desert Hot Springs Mayor Scott Matas released a statement to KESQ and CBS Local 2 regarding Parks’ resignation:
“She has been a leader for the City of Desert Hot Springs. She has not only served the city as a planning commissioner, council member and Mayor but has tirelessly volunteered her time in the community as a member of the Women’s Club helping to raise thousands of dollars in scholarships for DHS students. This is only a small piece of what she has done to make the city a better place. She will truly be missed on the city council.”
Parks’ resignation letter is scheduled to be addressed at the next city council meeting set for Tuesday, April 17.
