Coachella campers flock to welcome landing ground at Indio Walmart

Where there’s a will, there’s a Walmart. After Coachella campers had some less-than-stellar success attempting to rage and rest their feet at the La Quinta Walmart earlier today, they found a safe haven in Indio.

It was announced yesterday that the Coachella festival’s campgrounds wouldn’t be open to campers until 3 a.m. Friday, which threw a major wrench in the plans of droves of travelers coming to the Coachella Valley to take in some tunes. But the move was a precautionary one; windy conditions proved to wreak havoc on camping setups last week, and the festival organizers wanted to be especially safe considering Thursday’s forecast.

But many campers were far from happy with the decision.

“We’ve never been shut out from Coachella. We’ve always been able to go in and then deal with the wind,” said Walchella camper Ryan Mirvis. “It’s Coachella we’re in the desert we’re in poor elements you never know what’s going to happen.”

But some parking lot tenants are going with the flow and making the best of the situation.

“I recommend that you have a lot of fun come with your crew its good vibes,” said Walchella camper Fernando Banos. “It’s really awesome to meet people from all over the world.”
