Local amateur boxing star Ortega begins professional career with 20-sec KO

Former La Quinta High School student and now home schooled senior Santos Ortega has been making headlines in the boxing world throughout his amateur career. He was ranked at one time #1 and earned the title as the 2015 Junior Olympic National Champion. The dream of the Olympics ended on a controversial decision out of his hands but he now has moved forward and began his pro career. A fantastic start with a 20-second KO in Burbank and could soon begin his national spotlight. There is talk that he could join the under card of Linares vs Lomachenko on May 12th in Madison Square Garden but if that doesn’t work out many other options are on the table. KESQ/CBS Local 2 will continue to follow the journey of this 18-year-old future star.
