Victim identfied in Sky Valley homicide

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the man shot and killed during a shooting in Sky Valley in mid-April. James Lewis Jr., 50, of Sky Valley was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:06 p.m. on April 15.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 74000 block of Dillon road at around 7:40 p.m. that evening.

“Deputies arrived on scene and detained a male subject,” Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Ben Ramirez said. “While checking the interior of a residence, a male subject was found with a gunshot wound. This subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the case at this time. The shooting is still under investigation.
