Police still searching for armed burglar in Cathedral City
Detectives with the Cathedral City Police Department are searching for an armed man suspected of burglarizing a home while the residents were inside.
“It was really scary to know that something like that could happen overnight,” said Karen Parra, who lives next door to the home. “I woke up around 7 in the morning and there was a bunch of cops in the area and yellow tape in the house. No one was allowed to come in or out.”
According to a news release, it happened just after 5 a.m. Saturday in the 29300 Landau Blvd. Police said one of the residents encountered the man inside the home. The intruder then allegedly fled on foot with stolen property in hand.
“It’s scary because it’s the first time. It’s really quiet around here. There’s never been anything like that,” said Parra.
The burglar is described as a man with long hair. He was wearing a green-colored sweatshirt. Police believe he is armed with a handgun. No other details were released. KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 reached out to the CCPD for further details Monday afternoon, but did not hear back.
some neighbors were upset over the lack of information provided by investigators.
“I think we need to either step up the police department and either bring more people out, or something has to change,” said neighbor Brandon Franco, who lives several doors down.
