Palm Springs police take on teachers in ‘Books vs Badges’

For the third year in a row, the Palm Springs Police Department took the basketball court against the teachers and staff of Palm Springs High School.

‘Books versus Badges’ is the name of the game with the goal of raising money for the athletic programs at the high school.

The game drew a big crowd, organizers said it was the biggest and most exciting in the three years.

Team PSPD took home the win for the third year in a row, 35-34, following a failed buzzer-beater attempt by Team PSHS.

“This is absolutely the best game, if you missed it, I don’t know what to tell you. Down to the wire, stand-by for the next one for another great cause from the community,” said PSPD Chief Bryan Reyes.

“Think about it all year, some think of it as an end of a career, I think of it as the beginning of next year. Start working,” said Travis Yokimcus, who missed the game-winning shot for Team PSHS.

The Palm Springs Police will be looking to complete the four-peat next year.
