Assemblymember Garcia hosts hearing on Salton Sea oversight

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia hosted a meeting in Sacramento to make sure the plan for the Salton Sea goes off without a hitch.

The hearing aimed to bridge together the perspectives of local stakeholders and state agencies to ensure the successful implementation of the Salton Sea management plan.

“You may not say this, but I think the takeaway here is you may not have the appropriate amount of people to do the work that needs to be done here, which is part of what’s delayed this conversation, which has also led to a conversation of setting up a structure. Whether it be a formal government structure or/and a task force,” Garcia said.

Garcia said the hearing would help increase transparency and further engage the public to state and regional efforts underway to help improve air quality, human health, ecological and economic issues surrounding the sea.
