Fire reported near Oates Lane & Avenue 50 in Coachella

Cal Fire is responding to reports of a fire near the intersection Oates Lane and Harrison Street in Coachella. The fire was reported around 3:47 p.m. There is no information on injuries at this time.

Arriving fire crews found wooden pallets, cardboard boxes, and a power pole ablaze. There are confirmed downed power lines at the scene.

According to the Imperial Irrigation District, at least 400 customers were without power because of the fire. Power was restored to those customers shortly before 6 p.m.

Nine fire engines and 29 firefighters are on the scene. Firefighters have managed to stop the forward progress of the blaze, but are expected to remain on the scene for two hours.

The fire was fully contained at 8:53 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
