Local hotels gear up for the summer

‘The Saguaro’ in Palm Springs is ready for summer, launching a new brand this season and fun events planned these next few months. Other local hotels also hoping to drive traffic through their doors.

“There’s tons of competition, it’s all friendly, but there’s a lot of rooms and a lot of pools and a lot of capacity in this city,” said Noah Ellis, CEO of ‘Arrive’ in Palm Springs

All that capacity is a big reason why local hotel owners are coming up with ways to keep the crowds coming.

“We’re throwing a big Memorial Day party. It’s going to be three days, taco carts, we’ll bring in some vendors,” Ellis said.

Ellis says arrive is consistently booked on weekends year-round, but he sees fewer guests mid-week, during summer months.

“We look to drive traffic from Los Angeles to some degree San Diego as well. It’s definitely softer, the rates come down and we do our best to keep the property full,” Ellis added.

The south end of town is experiencing similar patterns. ‘The Saguaro’ is kicking off the season with new uniforms, a freshly painted bar, and an exclusive offer for locals.

“You’re our neighbors, come be part of our community at ‘The Saguaro.’ Join us at the pools, join us at the workout facility, come to our menu tastings, come to our live concerts,” Matt Shough, general manager of the Saguaro

It’s called the ‘Saguaro Social Club Membership.’ Allowing year-round access to the hotel’s amenities and special events for $300, but it’s not ‘The Saguaro’s’ only draw this summer.

“We are looking to start something called the ‘Saguaro Summer Camp.’ Every Friday we’ll have yoga One week, a band, movie night, arts and crafts, interactive both inside and outside,” Shough said.

So while it may be off season, local hotels are just getting the fun started.

“A fun, exciting inviting place to come. Triple digits only add to the fun cause there’s a big pool here at ‘The Saguaro’ and you can cool off there,” Shough said.
