Thousands attend City of Indio’s Fantasia Comic Con
Thousands of comic book fans showed up at the Riverside County fairgrounds for the City of Indio’s Fantasia Comic Con which started Saturday. They were treated to panels, booths, cosplay, video games and vendors with a wide assortment of pop culture icons.
This is the second year of the event and headlining was Kevin Eastman creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There was also a video game tournament for fans to test out their skills on Super Smash Brothers.
Organizers expect 2,000 people to attend each of the two days where they can interact with over 60 vendors offering comics, merchandise, and other items from their favorite shows or comics.
Alma Silva, the floor manager for the convention said the event is meant to have an intimate feel for that fans could enjoy a more meaningful experience.
“It is a show for fans, for the fans mainly,” she said. “I mean, we want people to come in here and meet artists and meet people who are on television and icons.”
