Police arrest two felons in separate incidents
Two wanted men in Desert Hot Springs were arrested in separate incidents Saturday morning.
Police arrested 25-year-old Javier Torres shortly after 7 a.m. He was a parolee wanted in connection with an assault that happened Friday night.
Torres was arrested inside a home on the 66,800 block of Ironwood Drive.
Another felon was arrested about 30 minutes later when officers attempted to pull him over. Police said the motorcyclist led officers on a short pursuit before abandoning his motorcycle in the 66,200 block of Acoma Avenue.
28-year-old Edwin Martinez was arrested after running on foot for about a mile, all while jumping fences and going through yards. Police said they found him in the 12,200 block of Cactus Drive.
Martinez was wanted on firearm charges and was out on bail. He tossed a replica handgun during the foot chase, and was in possession of a dagger-style knife, according to police.
Torres and Martinez have both been booked into the county jail in Banning.
Torres faces several charges including felony domestic violence. Martinez faces charges that includes felony evading and being in possession of drug paraphernalia.
