Pedestrian killed in Cabazon crash

A pedestrian was fatally struck by three vehicles in Cabazon early today, and one driver fled the scene.

The victim, a 47-year-old Cherry Valley man whose name was not immediately released, died at the scene of the 12:14 a.m. collision at the intersection of Bonita Avenue and Elm Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was crossing Bonita Avenue outside of a crosswalk, in an unlit area while dressed in dark clothing, when he was struck, authorities said.

He was initially hit by a 1999 Dodge Ram and was struck by a gray sedan while lying in the roadway, then was hit by a 2006 Honda Civic, the CHP reported.

The Dodge and Honda drivers stopped at the scene, but the sedan driver took off, according to the CHP. Anyone with information regarding that driver was urged to contact the CHP’s San Gorgonio Office at (951) 769-2000.
