CSUSB Palm Desert honors veterans with ceremony ahead of Memorial Day

With Memorial Day Weekend upcoming, Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus will paid tribute to veterans today with a special on-campus ceremony.

The 3 p.m. event included a flag-folding ceremony, a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the Rancho Mirage High School Chamber Choir and a three-volley salute by the local VFW Post 6476 Honor Detail.

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Joel Daniels played “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes, and dean Sharon Brown-Welty delivered remarks.

Tours of the campus’ Veteran’s Success Center, which offers programs and resources geared toward student service members, was held following the ceremony.
