Riverside County gas prices continue trend upward with end of week uptick

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose two-tenths of a cent today to $3.698, its highest amount since Aug. 20, 2015.

The average price has risen 16 times in the past 18 days, increasing 8.8 cents, including a half-cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 2.1 cents more than one week ago, 12.9 cents higher than one month ago and 69.7 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 62.5 cents since the start of the year.

“Wholesale gas prices have retreated slightly from their 52-week high point reached on May 10, but so far that hasn’t been enough to push down prices at the pump,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
