Cal Fire combating 13-acre fire in Thermal
UPDATE: The blaze’s forward progress was halted at 11:10 a.m. According to Cal Fire, the fire was sparked by the arson of a stolen vehicle.

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters are currently fighting a 13-acre vegetation fire in a field near the intersection of Highway 86 and Avenue 70 in Thermal.

30 firefighters and nine fire engines are currently on the scene combating the blaze. The fire broke out in a heavy thicket of tamarisk trees and is burning at a slow rate.
The fire was reported at 7:23 a.m.
