Neighbors react after Coachella neighborhood shooting
People are speaking out after a shooting in a Coachella neighborhood left one man hospitalized Tuesday night. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies said the shooting took place at the 84000 block of Calle Diego.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified said he heard the gunshots and believed it was a drive-by shooting. He said one of the bullets struck a bedroom window on the second floor of his home. He also captured video of what he believed was the getaway car. The neighbor said incidents like a shooting aren’t common in his area.
Jesus Munoz, another neighbor, said he was alarmed when he heard about the shooting.
“I feel a bit unsafe because I didn’t expect it but I did kind of because there’s like a dangerous side of Coachella next to ours,” he said.
As a result, he’s remaining vigilant.
“I have stuff to protect myself like, I have my whistle here that I can blow it and I can use my phone to call 911 really quick and stuff like that,” Munoz said.
Deputies said condition of the man shot is unknown and how the shooting occurred remains an active investigation. There’s no suspect information at this time.
