Student Athlete of the Week – Palm Desert golf senior class
The 2018 Palm Desert golf team is the best in valley history, winning a DVL title, a CIF-SS title and a 2nd place finish at the state championships. Cody Krupp has the full story.
A brotherhood bonded by the game of golf.
“These guys are awesome, best friends. Cool to be one of the best teams this state has ever seen and we made a good run at it this year. Just came up short,” Chase Cadwallader said.
The Aztec logo on their chest.
“I see them like family, like brothers,” John Kim said.
It was a heartbreaking finish for likely the best team in any sport that this valley has ever seen but it doesn’t take away from what they have accomplished together.
“I’m proud of their efforts all season long and what they have done at the state championships. It’s unbelievable to me. Despite the fact we came in second I am very proud of them,” Kurt Ney said.
“Fantastic year, so much fun together. So happy I could be part of this, fun ride, fun ride,” Raymond Navis said.
For Charlie Reiter he may have had story after story written about him in his great high school career but that is just the first chapter being written.
“Definitely excited to head to SC and maybe I can win a national championship there,” Charlie Reiter said.
His fellow senior Raymond Navis is also going to play college golf in LA but at LMU.
“Everyone there is fantastic, great part of LA and I am super excited,” Navis said.
While John Kim and Chase Cadwallader will chase a professional golf career at the College of the Desert.
“After college my plan is to turn pro. Try to make it and if not life goes on,” Cadwallader said.
“I am trying to go PGA, that’s my goal,” John Kim said.
