Following a startling upward trend, Riverside gas prices drop for fourth straight day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped today for the fourth consecutive day, decreasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.694.

The average price is 1 cent less than one week ago but 7.3 cents more than one month ago and 70.7 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has risen 62.1 cents since the start of the year.

The average price dropped three-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, two-tenths of a cent Wednesday and three-tenths of a cent Thursday.

“Oil prices have dropped in the last couple of weeks as local gasoline supplies have risen, setting up conditions for pump prices to drop,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
