Suspected burglar gets nude in attempt to elude police
A home invasion suspect was arrested after trying to hide from police by diving into a local hotel pool naked. Christopher McCurdy, 48, of Desert Hot Springs is being held without bail.

It happened around 9:15 Saturday morning after a homeowner reported they had been assaulted in a burglary at a house on San Juan Road, said a release provided by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. McCurdy had allegedly ran from the home with stolen items.
A large-scale police search of the area eventually led authorities to the pool at the Miracle Springs Resort and Spa. In an attempt to hide his clothes from a California Highway Patrol search helicopter, police said McCurdy stripped naked and jumped into the pool.
“With the helicopter overhead, the suspect stripped naked, hid his clothing and jumped in the pool, trying to disguise his appearance,” said Sgt. Christopher Saucier.
Once police surrounded the hotel, McCurdy then attempted to run away from the area wearing only a towel, said the DHSPD. McCurdy was arrested in the parking lot and charged on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest and violating parole, among other counts of suspected crimes and a previous arrest warrant. He is being held at the Riverside County Jail in Banning.
