More than 1,300 customers left without power during triple digit heat

A power outage in Palm Desert left 1,345 Southern California Edison customers without power Sunday evening, said a representative from the company.

The outage was caused by equipment problems around 6:20 p.m., the rep added. Crews were dispatched to the site and by 9 p.m., SCE had reduced the outage to 55 customers.

There was no estimated time of restoration. Temperatures Sunday afternoon were in the triple digits.

The SCE online outage map was under construction Sunday evening, leaving many residents without any knowledge of what the issue was. The rep said it would be fixed by Monday, but that customers can call 1-800-655-4555.
