KESQ & CBS Local 2 GM Mike Stutz honored ahead of retirement
KESQ & CBS Local 2’s general manager Mike Stutz was not expecting to be honored Tuesday afternoon at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa.
He attended the Oasis Awards expecting to honor CBS Local 2 anchor Brooke Beare, who also served as emcee. But the tables were turned with CVB President Scott White presented Stutz with a painting by the artist Shag.
Stutz recently announced his retirement. The Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau wanted to thank him for all his years of supporting the CVB and tourism industry.

Stutz has spent 42 years in broadcasting and says he could not have picked a better career than television news.
“Quite a shock and quite an honor, but I have loved all 11 years I have been here in this community and it’s just a great place. You look at the vibrancy in this room and that’s one of the reasons why Ellen and I say, ‘You know what, this is the place we want to be when we retire and so that’s where we will be.’ It’s such a great honor, I was blown away,” Stutz said.
Stutz plans to spend more time with his family along with traveling. He’ll also be working on his golf game.
