Humane Society of the Desert personnel recover animal remains buried in the desert
Humane Society of the Desert personnel finds animal remains buried in the desert.
This comes after an on-going dispute between employees and their board president, Malinda Bustos, who is being accused of harassing personnel into euthanizing dogs after business hours and burying them in the desert.
One employee told KESQ & CBS Local 2 that he was one of the employees tasked with burying the dogs two years ago, a memory he says continues to haunt him.
Other board members say they are looking closely into the allegations.
“These accusations have come up before and we just believed Malinda and now they’re feeling strong enough with the new board that they’re coming forward and saying ‘Hey, this happened and we want to fix it,'” said Lori Carman of the Humane Society.
Bustos was suspended from the board last month pending an investigation into the employees’ complaints. He has not replied to our requests for comment.
