Indio man killed in Cathedral City strip club shooting
An early morning shooting at Show Girls gentlemen’s club in Cathedral City was sparked by a fight between rival Coachella Valley gangs, according to Cathedral City Police Chief Travis Walker.
Two men suffered serious injuries but were expected to survive. One man later died from his injuries.
Indio resident Jason Rosas, 24, died at an area hospital Wednesday. The other two injured men had not yet been identified.
At around 1:52 a.m., a shooting occurred in the parking lot of the strip club after three patrons were ejected from the building after an altercation. Rosas and a second injured man were from Indio. The third patron was from Coachella.
“When you have gang members from another community come to businesses in your city, there’s not a lot we can do. We don’t have control over the gang activity in other communities that spill over into our city,” said Chief Walker. “All we can do is educate our businesses on what to look for and how to properly deal with it. And we hope that businesses that are regulated by other state and federal establishments are abiding by those rules so that we can minimize these types of events.”
The two Indio men were in serious but stable condition and were expected to recover.
No other patrons or staff members from the club were involved in the altercation.
Police were searching for two suspects, one 24-years of age, the second “possibly in his mid-20’s”.
