Rancho Mirage attic fire contained, four firefighters injured

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters are on the scene of a residential structure fire on the 10 block of Furman Court in Rancho Mirage.

The first arriving fire crew reported a single story home with smoke visible from the attic.

As of 12:49 p.m., the crews were still battling the “active heavy fire” in the home’s roof. At around 1:20 p.m.., the fire spread to the adjoining duplex. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control at around 2:35 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

Due to temperatures of 102 degrees in Rancho Mirage, authorities utilized a SunLine bus to cycle firefighters in and out of the heat.

Four firefighters were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
