Woman in custody following alleged vehicle theft, police pursuit

One woman is in custody following a police pursuit that spanned four desert cities, according to Investigator Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The woman, who has not been identified, allegedly took a truck without permission from its owner earlier today.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., police attempted an enforcement stop near Highway 111 and Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage. The driver refused to pull over and a slow-speed pursuit continued on Highway 111 through Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, before coming to an end near Washington Street in La Quinta.

Near the intersection of Highway 111 and Washington St., Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies moved in on the vehicle, broke out the windows, and took the woman into custody. She sustained minor injuries during her arrest, and was treated at the scene.
