Lawyers receive new documents as Turpins appear in court in Riverside

A pair of key court dates have been set in the Perris Prison home case. David and Louise Turpin, who are accused of imprisoning and torturing their children, appeared in court at the Riverside County Hall of Justice on Friday.

The Turpins will appear in court for another hearing on May 4, for a felony settlement conference., and their preliminary hearing is set for May 14.

Both David and Louise Turpin dressed in all black as they had for previous appearances, however, they did not appear to be shackled or chained as they had in prior court hearings.

A representative from the Riverside County Adult Protective Services appeared and presented confidential documents relating to the adult Turpin siblings subpoenaed by both the prosecution and defense today. (The adult Turpin siblings were recently released from the hospital.)

David Allen Turpin, 56, and Louise Ann Turpin, 49, are charged with 12 counts each of torture and false imprisonment, as well as nine counts of child abuse and seven counts of cruelty to a dependent adult. David Turpin is additionally charged with one count of lewd acts on a child under 14 years old, and his wife is additionally charged with assault resulting in great bodily injury.

The Turpins are each being held in lieu of $12 million bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside and are facing 94 years to life in state prison if convicted.
